Mudcloth is all. the. rage. these days. It’s not hard to see why. The patterns are simple and bold at the same time and blends well with so many types of décor styles. But mudcloth doesn’t have to be limited to pillows and throw blankets. Today, we’re taking that trend to the pilates studio with our DIY mudcloth yoga mat.
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. I’m all about easy diy projects. No sew, minimal supplies and fast results. And this definitely checks all of those boxes.
What You’ll Need:
a plain yoga mat
masking tape to help with paint lines ( not necessary but helpful)
white paint (either fabric paint or acrylic)
Decide on the width of the mudcloth area. I suggest 5 inches.
Use your ruler to create a straight line and either mark it with a pencil or tape the area.
Use your imagination or google mudcloth designs and choose a pattern to mimic. The simplicity of mudcloth will make this part easy.
Paint your design starting with the two thick, white lines. Then create the first part of the inner design starting in the center and working your way out. This will ensure that the design is not off centered.
Allow your paint to fully dry. I preferred to wait a full day.
Once your design is dry, apply modpodge over the entire painted area so that it doesn’t get rubbed off and is truly water (or sweat!) proof.
This is such a great way to add some fun to your workout routine and makes the perfect little accessory.
